So Much Grass and Clay

It’s flat and has full sun. Sure, there are deer but I can put a fence up. The shocking part of this new space, heavy wet clay. It’s a brand new house and yard. I started on my “kill the grass” project in the fall of 2024. Moving boxes and saved boxes from the school cafeteria provide the base layer. Free chips from Chip Drop holding down the cardboard. It is a slow process of wheeling the wood chips to the back yard and dumping them, but progress was made!

Raised beds solve the clay problem. They also solve the “going down is easy but getting back up is harder” problem of aging. The configuration of the bed below was re-done later in the fall to be a larger configuration. Oops!
